Scarf Help!

  • Jan. 7th, 2010 at 12:38 PM
Alright friends. So I'm like, 6 blocks of color close to being done with my first who-scarf ever, and it occured to me I'm not sure what to do when I'm done with the knitting part. I know it's going to need to be blocked because I used Nature Spun Wool, which I've never done to my projects before (but I did find that handy tutorial on doctorwhoscarf.com) but the question I need to ask is - do I add the fringe to the bottom before or after soak/blocking?

Any other tips as far as the blocking part goes? I know I'm going to need to stretch it, because I knit it pretty tight. Should I block it flat with pins, or should I hang it so it stretches? I have no idea!

Tardis Knitted Blanket

  • Jan. 5th, 2010 at 11:50 PM
Hello there.

I'm wondering if anyone can help me. I've seen a few mentions of a knitted Tardis blanket, and I would dearly love to have a pattern of one to make for myself and my mother. I've searched all over the internet and have been unable to find anything like this, so any help you could possibly give me to steer me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you very much in advance!

A Martha Themed Party

  • Jan. 4th, 2010 at 4:15 PM
So I'm throwing a Dr Who Suprise party for a friend down at Uni and  would like some suggestions... We want this to be focused on Martha so we're thinking anything really season 4 related, so far our plans include...

- Sending her to a Shakespeare production ( that gives us two hours to decorate and prepare)

- Sonic Screwdrivers to drink  ( Blue Curacau, Vanilla  Vodka, and lemon lime soda. Recipe here http://www.drinksmixer.com/drinkb1c6388.html)

- The cake will either be a Daleck cake or we'll settle for a cookie cake with Tardis frosting.

- Weeping Angels to follow her around on campus all day. (thanks to [info]tardis_tara )

- I've made a Toclafane prototype to bring, and I have the Master's Laser Screwdriver, so I'm thinking of dressing as Lucy Saxon, while my party planning partner is going as Rose.

But what else would be good for Martha? Thats her favorite character, and we can't really think of much more. Y'all are crafty, what other sorts of decorations do you think would be fun for her?

Thank you so much! Keep up the fabulous work!

A very happy new year to you all, and a warm welcome to the first digest of 2010! Sorry that it's late arriving, but going back to work after the holiday came as a bit of a shock to the system!

My friend [info]gonturan and I (well, mainly [info]gonturan. I just supervised and ate the extra frosting) made TARDIS cookies for Tennant's finale episode.

They turned out really cute - come see!.

Lego TARDIS

  • Jan. 3rd, 2010 at 12:15 PM
I have been obsessed with Lego since I was a small child. More recently I have gotten obsessed with Doctor Who. What better way to combine my 2 obsessions? It truly started out as an experiment to see if I could make it look right. i think it turned out fairly well.

I decided this year I was going to have a go at making a custom action figure. I got the idea of doing an 8 inch (20 cm) scaled line of customs after seeing the old Palitoy/Mego line of Doctor Who figures from the 1970s. So I started hunting up some old Megos on ebay, and decided to try my hand at sculpting a new head for the figure.

Photos Below )
The face is a bit rough, and the nose is off, but not too bad for a first try. This was more a test run than anything else, as I haven't gotten the bodies yet and I don't know how this head will scale with them. I might just end up finding some preexisting head and modifying it to suit my needs.

I'll be posting as things progress, right now I'm just waiting on parts and need to scrounge up some material to make the costume.

More FIMO...

cyber

I know it's getting weird, but I just had to try a few things with the silver FIMO ^^
Cyberman with pet Cybermat... Still needs some work, not as detailed as I like. I still wish I could do the TARDIS and/or Daleks, but they just don't work out...

Doctor Who / David Tennant Card Swap

  • Jan. 1st, 2010 at 10:03 PM
Hey All!

Given the fact that we are at the end of David Tennant's run as the Tenth Doctor, I wanted to do something crafty to immortalize his run.

I posted a swap over at swap-bot. It involves making two Artist Trading Cards. Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) are 2 1/2 x 3 1/2 pieces of art that focus on a certain subject.

The swap is over here. You will need to register for a swap-bot account if you don't already have one.

TARDIS baby vest

Hello! *waves* First post and all, I thought I'd offer a TARDIS baby vest.

The pattern is at my DW here.

(It's my first go at writing a knitting pattern so it's probably full of mistakes - hopefully you get the gist, though)

Sandcastle TARDIS

  • Jan. 1st, 2010 at 8:00 PM
We spent the afternoon today at a fair, and they had a free sandcastle modelling competition. So I made a sand TARDIS. Getting those blue sticks to stay put long enough to get a photo was really difficult, but I managed in the end.

X-Stitch Progress in 2009

  • Dec. 31st, 2009 at 12:28 PM
I met up with Christopher Eccleston just before Christmas at the BFI NFT Southbank, London. He had just finished "John Lennon Naked" which is due to be shown on BBC4 in the New Year, hence, his scary haircut!

I've come a long, long way since the first picture I posted way back in the summer of 2008!

Progress of the 10 Doctors since then )

I've just brought two cross stitch patterns of the Master in sepia tones too!

I wish everyone here in this forum a very happy New Year 2010!

Knitted TARDIS

  • Dec. 29th, 2009 at 11:35 PM
Hi, everybody!  Long time watcher, first time poster.  Please excuse any mistakes I may make!

Anyway, I have been wanting to knit a TARDIS using the pattern that can be found on the internet.  However, I wanted to get some advice from people who have made one before.  What size needles did you use?  Did you use an intarsia technique for the coloured parts, or did you duplicate stitch it on afterwards?  What size did it turn out to be in the end?

Thanks for all the help!
